There has been many enhancements to the new version which have help many users to improve their current workflow and overcome some of the earlier limitations. I’ll be sharing/explaining some of the cool enhancements which I feel would be helpful to majority of SOLIDWORKS users.
Auto-Rotate View on Sketch Edit
With earlier version of SOLIDWORKS, rotating of view normal to the sketch plane was only available when starting a new sketch. This option was available under Tools > Options > Sketch.
And when you were editing a sketch, you had to set normal to sketch plane using various methods like mouse gesture, keyboard shortcut, heads up toolbar, etc. This not only resulted in one extra step but sometimes it could be irritating.
But now with SOLIDWORKS 2018 this option has been enhanced and users would get rotating of view normal to the sketch plane on both new sketch creation and sketch edit mode. And I’m sure this small enhancement is going to save a lot of time for everyone. You can set this option in the same place as in earlier version i.e. under Tools > Options > Sketch. The option name has been changed to “Auto-rotate view normal to sketch plane on sketch creation and sketch edit”
Over the next few weeks, I would be sharing more details on the new enhancements of SOLIDWORKS 2018, so stay tuned and happy reading!!
